WHAT IS RAAK

RAAK is the Recreational Aviation Association of Kenya. We are the association that represents and facilitates the inspection, registration and certification of light aircraft; airplanes, gliders and rotorcraft flow in Kenya for recreational purposes.
We are regulated by and work closely with the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA), to improve the safety and reliability of all light aircraft and to increase the owner's awareness and knowledge of their aircraft, while at the same time, significantly reducing the costs and paperwork associated with use and ownership, with the aims of increasing the accessibility of recreational aviation and flying to all the people of Kenya.

HOW DOES RAAK WORK

RAAK facilitates the registration, test flying, and annual certification of qualifying new and existing light aircraft in Kenya. Aircraft inspections are carried out by KCAA approved, RAAK certified inspectors annually in combination with aircraft owners.

Aircraft that pass the inspection process, and also possess the relevant insurance and pilot licenses, are then issued an annual “Certificate of Airworthiness”. RAAK also offers its subscribers significant discounts with regard to annual Navigation fees and aircraft insurance in Kenya.

  • HOW MUCH WILL I SAVE WITH RAAK

Subscribers of RAAK will benefit from a significant saving of both time and money, when applying for Certificates of Airworthiness, Navigation fees, registration of aircraft and permits to test fly.
RAAK will do the paperwork with KCAA and the aircraft inspection process is simplified for the owner. Aircraft owner maintenance and aircraft modifications are also accepted, subject to scrutiny and approval by a RAAK inspector.
In an average year it is anticipated that an aircraft covered by RAAK will save in the region of 4 to 6 weeks of time and over KES 300,000/= in fees.

DOES MY AIRCRAFT QUALIFY FOR RAAK
    If your aircraft is either:
    • Experimental Class
    • Home built
    • Non Certified Type

Then you potentially qualify to have your aircraft registered under or to move to RAAK. Aircraft already registered in Kenya as a 5Y-*** certified aircraft, or aircraft still under construction all qualify to become subscribers of RAAK.
